Jubitz Family Foundation
The Jubitz Family Foundation was among the first foundations to totally divest of carbon stock in early 2013. We knew philosophically that we wanted to divest and our financial analysis proved that we could do it and not reduce our return on investment. We think it is very important to connect grantmaking goals with investment goals.
Raymond JubitzI sold off every asset (stocks I owned) of direct oil companies such as Suncor and indirect such as TransCanada which creates oil pipelines. I am a relatively small investor but every dollar counts and in total I divested a little over 100,000$ of fossil fuel related stock. The reason is simple; I do not want to profit from destroying the planet that I love so much. I believe that nature, clean air, clean water, biodiversity are more important than money. Personally I feel society places too much emphasis on money; our values are not in the right place and this needs to change. However I cannot demand change without changing first. If a high percentage of investors including mutual funds and ETA's would divest from fossil fuel investments we could help change the world for the better. I am not looking for praise for what I did; simply hope others will follow.

In order to further re-invigorate the Philanthropic aim of socially responsible use of Energy , Consumer Product Use and Environmental areas. As an Oil Industry Practitioner , there is an over reliance on the industry and no full integration with society , due to a lack of stability of supply . We can only improve our society and environment by divesting investment and supporting the grass roots of change at the lowest level and all the way to the tree tops of the global industry . I am also spending my free time not only investing my personal portfolio responsibly , but also I am very willing to help others do the same . It is important for the bigger investors to know that there are people like me who are very happy to support this initiative , it gives a mandate to challenge the status quo responsibly and in a manner that will get results in proper funding , switching to better energy sources and less waste by encouraging manufacturing of products that last longer .

Kris NeumanI believe global climate change is the biggest risk to civilization and want my assets to divest in industries that make fossil fuels a part of their profit motive.
Patty DurandMy initiative for joining this initiative comes from a deep and profound concern about how the owners of the fossil fuel industry are using their wealth to violate the rights of indigenous people here in the United States. It seems as though wealthy families who can afford to make huge foundations are receiving the lion's share of credit for making positive change without anyone asking them about their private holdings. For example: The Rockefeller Family's personal wealth is estimated to exceed into the trillions. Are they divesting themselves personally of the original Standard Oil stock which makes up the majority of their wealth. 860 million seems insignificant compared to the wealth that they privately own. Their latest publicity stunt seems disingenuous and hypocritical. Why should these foundations receive so much applause in the media when poor grassroots activists like Winona LaDuke recieves so little ? http://www.democracynow.org/2014/9/23/vandana_shiva_winona_laduke_desmond_dsa What about the millions of poor farmers in the third world who have lost their lands and lively hoods due to the Exxon-Mobil Corporation.Shouldn't the shareholders be held accountable and pay reparations ? Or does the steady stream of grants to groups like yours keep those questions out of the discussion ? Ultimately, your credibility seems compromised absent the essential elements of social justice.
Amy O'NeillSolar Motion, Corporation
Congratulations, you are about to get the world moving in the right direction. This is, away from oil and onto newfound energy and with encouragement to continue the search for a cleaner greener tomorrow. We have an asset base of renewable hybrid energy patents that are assets to all who hope moving in the renewable future. I have learned to use solar energy in conjunction with wind energy and all on mobile, non-stationary platforms. Unlike solar photovoltaic cells that sit still on rooftops, ours go on wheels, of cars, bikes, spiining wind platforms and so many other agendas too lentghly to get fully into in this short space. We are solar-motion.com and we invite the world to work with us to secure a green verdant future. We are the mobile messengers of change for the solar industry and have created massive more energy and power opportunities for the sustainable marketplace.

Our company is focused on developing ground-based utility scale solar energy facilities in Emerging Markets such as LatAm & Sub Saharan Africa. Our mission & vision is very much aligned with Divest-Invest. Our investor base shares the belief that we should assist these countries to by-pass current fossil-based forms of energy generation to clean power similar to how they leap-frogged technologies in the telecommunications space.
Martin RitchieNew England Biolabs Foundation
The New England Biolabs Foundation supports community-based conservation of landscapes and seascapes. Many of the communities where we are working ??? in Latin America, Africa and locally ??? are on the front lines of climate change. The foundation has long sought to ensure that our investment practices are consistent with our mission, having transitioned our endowment to socially responsible investments in the 1990s. More recently, we have begun to explore opportunities for mission-related investing and shareholder activism. Committing to divesting from fossil fuels is a logical step in the evolution of our investment policy. We plan to redirect our investments, where possible, to advance renewable energy and energy efficiency. We approved this decision at our December 2014 board meeting, inspired by the leadership and commitment of foundations that have publicly taken this step, including the many signatories of the Divest/Invest pledge. The momentum is clearly building. We hope that our action will, in turn, inspire other small foundations, and we stand ready to share our experience with others considering the decision to divest from fossil fuels.

We wish for our investments and our philanthropic activities to support clean energy use and investment in every way and manner possible. Fossil fuels need to be scaled down dramatically, and clean energy investments need as much support as possible from every source possible. To meet these goals, we support industry, financial, and governmental initiatives that aim to address the increasingly important threat of drastic climate change over the next 50 years. We wish to support a future for our children and grandchildren that does not include such threats. To these ends, we are motivated to serious action, immediately. - - Thank you, - Mike Englert and Ambica Prakash - Founders, Eighty2degrees LLC

We believe that your investments should be aligned with your values. You may be uncomfortable with the presence of unsustainable - businesses and fossil fuel production and exploration companies in your portfolio. Your ownership of these companies may present an - ethical concern, an unacceptable risk, or a missed opportunity to invest in companies that are at the forefront of innovation. - Current Canadian research shows that only 1 in 10 of those interested in Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) actually hold SRI investments - products in their portfolios. - - Clearly, the traditional SRI options are not sufficiently appealing. The Blue Heron Portfolios are a result of - our efforts to innovate and to provide you with a better opportunity to do the right thing. - - Making the choice to invest responsibly is not making the choice to accept lower returns. Research has shown that focusing on more - sustainable businesses and eliminating Fossil Fuel producing/exploring companies can positively impact your portfolio???s performance - and can measurably lower your risk. - - Blue Heron???s rigorous positive Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance screening ensures that you invest in only the most - committed, innovative, and sustainable companies. Positive screening emphasizes the impact of sustainability on a company???s long-term - potential to compete and succeed. This investment approach allows you to express your values on corporate behavior such as - social justice and the environment through stock selection positively - without sacrificing your portfolio diversification or long-term - performance. - - At its simplest Fossil Fuel Free investing is the exclusion of the top 200 fossil fuel reserve holding companies ??? the ???Dirty 200???. In - addition, the Blue Heron Portfolios also exclude all integrated oil companies and all Oil and Gas exploration and production companies.

Katy YungGeneral Service Foundation
The General Service Foundation (GSF) is a private foundation that was incorporated in 1946 to bring about a more just and sustainable world. To achieve its mission, the Foundation supports innovative leaders and organizations working to advance Human Rights and Economic Justice in the United States and Mexico as well as Reproductive Justice in the U.S. Additionally, the Foundation works to advance social justice and civic participation via state-centric programs in Colorado. - - GSF has moved towards greater alignment between its endowment and mission with a focus on the environment and climate change. Towards this end, GSF has committed more than 5% of its endowment to private clean tech and alternative energy investments and has, as an initial step, already divested from fossil fuel companies in its separately managed accounts and will continue to migrate away from investments in these companies across its investments. GSF believes in this movement's ability to influence public policy and change corporate behavior.
